Multifunctional Materials and Intelligent Design Lab

MMIDL Multi-functional Materials and Intelligent Design Lab

MMIDL Lab Group

Welcome to MMIDL Lab. We focus on the design, analysis, synthesis, and fabrication of mechanical and biological structures in multi-scales with concepts from topology optimization, architected materials, machine learning, and additive manufacturing. We develop computational methods and novel designs for multifunctional multi-physics problems. We aim to unlock nature's design principles and create innovative bio-inspired and biomimetic designs. We also work in the mechanics-biomedicine interface to deliver innovative solutions to biomedical problems. Our application areas are lightweight structures, thermal systems, photonics,  biomedical implants, and laser-matter interactions.
